Great to meet you!
My name is Veronica Martin-Perkins. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I have a Doctorate in Counseling Education and Supervision from Walden University. I also hold two graduate degrees from Prairie View A&M University: a Master of Arts in Counseling with a focus in Marriage and Family, and a Master of Education in Educational Administration. I am a proud alumnus of Texas Southern University, where I received my bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies with an emphasis in Early Childhood.
In addition to my academic background, I hold Texas certifications in Teaching, School Counseling, and Principalship. I am also a Certified Trauma and Resilience Practitioner (CTRP).
I bring with me 29 years of experience in education, recently retiring as an EC-12 school counselor. My career has included roles as a classroom teacher, school counselor, district administrator, higher education program manager, and adjunct instructor. My passion for lifelong learning and service has allowed me to work with individuals from age 6 to 65+, including survivors of Trauma and Domestic Violence, Couples, families, and members of the LGBTQ+ community.
My therapeutic approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Therapy, Mindfulness, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Theory, Narrative Therapy along with various modalities. I also incorporate Play and Art Therapy techniques when working with younger clients.
My mission is to use my experience, specialized training, and education to provide meaningful mental health support to individuals facing trauma or life’s unexpected challenges. I believe that while life doesn’t always equip us with the tools we need, together we can build resilience, develop coping strategies, and foster growth through a trusting and compassionate therapeutic relationship. I’m here to walk alongside you in your journey—toward healing, hope, and wholeness.
