Great to meet you!

Hello, I’m Veronica Powers, founder and lead therapist at CAVU Counseling. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida and certified by the National Board of Certified Counselors. I hold a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University, a CACREP-accredited program.

I am certified in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and hold the Equine-Assisted Mental Health Practitioner (EAMHP) certification from the University of Denver. I provide virtual and in-person individual psychotherapy as well as equine-integrated psychotherapy at our Keystone Heights location offering a unique experiential environment that supports emotional growth, self-regulation, and connection. 1-2 days a week, I also provide in-person sessions at our satellite campus in Ponte Vedra Beach.

I work with individuals of all ages, addressing concerns such as trauma, emotional dysregulation, anxiety, behavioral challenges, and complex family dynamics. My professional background also includes hands-on experience with Applied Behavioral Analysis which has strengthened my understanding of behavioral interventions and child development.

My approach is trauma-informed, integrative, and rooted in resilience, focusing on helping clients build insight, self-efficacy, and meaningful change through evidence-based and experiential methods.

My approach to therapy

My approach is collaborative, client-centered, and developmentally informed. I draw from a variety of evidence-based modalities including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), emotion-focused therapy (EFT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). I believe that therapy should be a safe and validating space where individuals feel empowered to understand themselves more deeply and work toward sustainable change.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect to leave sessions feeling supported, empowered, and equipped with practical tools to manage life’s challenges. I strive to create an emotionally safe and compassionate environment where clients can process difficult experiences, strengthen their sense of self, and build healthier relationships. Through both talk therapy and equine-integrated sessions, I aim to help clients increase self-awareness, improve emotional regulation, and foster resilience. Whether the work involves navigating trauma, improving communication, or developing coping strategies, my goal is to walk alongside each client as they move toward greater clarity, stability, and confidence.
