Great to meet you!

Does anxiety sabotage your life and career and keep you from feeling competent and confident? Are you struggling to recover from a recent trauma, like a car accident, or the unexpected loss of a loved one, or something catastrophic, such as a tornado? Are you still carrying hurt, shame, or anger connected to childhood trauma of having been bullied, abused, or neglected? It's been my privilege during my 30+ years as a therapist to help many people to: (1) Begin to believe in and be an advocate for themselves; (2) Evaluate what they want to be different in their life and set some goals; (3) Create a plan for reaching their goals; (4) Start taking steps toward the life they really want to live. I'd love to be a resource for you, also.

Because I love to learn, I've gotten trained in a number of evidenced-based therapies that have helped many people become more free. I'm certified in EMDR (including the latest version, the Flash Technique), Holographic Memory Resolution, and Heart-Centered Hypnotherapy. I'm trained in Internal Family Systems Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Emotional Freedom Technique. I also offer Alpha Stim equipment that can be used during a session and is helpful for calming anxiety. If your Christian faith is important to you and if you desire, it's also ok to include that in our work together.

Whatever you're struggling with, you don't have to try to solve it by yourself. Everyone at some point in life finds themselves needing someone to see and hear them and care what they are going through. You aren't alone. You matter. And you don't have to stay stuck. If this sounds like something that appeals to you, call or email me. I'd be glad to talk to you briefly by phone to see if there would be a good fit between us.

My approach to therapy

Your goals and what you want to be different in your life are what we will focus on. I'm not a traditional "talk therapist," so I will participate with you, ask questions, give you feedback, and offer a variety of practical tools you can use to start feeling happier, more calm and confidant. People who have worked with me have told me they feel supported in a safe, non-judgmental, encouraging way.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is about hearing your story, what you're struggling with, what you want to be different in your life, and getting some idea of the kinds of strengths you've already developed. If there is time, we will work on some kind of practical strategy you can start using right away to feel better. I will also give you a packet of handouts that are all strategies for building resilience, regulating your emotions, and feeling better about yourself. And it's always ok to ask questions!
