Great to meet you!

I am a New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years years of experience with adults, families, couples and adolescents in private practice and community based programs. I began my career working with adolescents, young adults and their families from all backgrounds and walks of life. I was trained at the Ackerman Institute and the Minuchin Center where I developed a passion for family systems. Even when working with individuals, I pay close attention to family relationships, whether they are sources of support or conflict. Even the most volatile relationship can often improve with simple interventions. It has been a privilege to work with my clients and be part of their journey of growth, healing and recovery. I have experience with a wide range of presenting problems, including depression, anxiety, grief and loss, trauma, family and relational conflict, substance use disorders, and life transitions. My practice has taught me that people are resilient and resilience can be strengthened, like a muscle. Although I have been trained extensively in many evidence-based models, including Multisystemic Therapy, Brief Strategic Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, experience has taught me it is the therapeutic relationship itself, as well as relationships in our lives that help us get through hard times and live life more fully.

My approach to therapy

My approach to all modalities of therapy is relational, strength based, creative, and affirming. I strive to create a comfortable space where you can feel safe to be yourself, without judgement. We will work collaboratively to address what you want to change. In therapy, we will identify and strengthen internal and external resources and overcome barriers that hold you back from achieving your goals . I use proven treatment methods to help you change behaviors, increase resilience, manage stress, reduce symptoms, strengthen relationships and live more fully.

What you can expect from me

In the first session, we will begin to get to know each other and you can see if my approach and style feels like a good fit for you. I will ask questions so that I can understand what brings you to therapy and what you want to work on. I want to know what you have tried in the past and what helped or didn't. I want to know a little about your history, your supports, and anything else you feel comfortable sharing so I can see how I can help you.
