I am a New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker and have been providing counseling services through my private practice for over 25 years. I received my first master’s degree in School Psychology and went on to complete a second master’s degree in Social Work. I have worked18 years in the New York State Public School System as a school psychologist, school counselor, and school social worker. I have also worked 4 years as a counselor in an undergraduate 4 year college.
I accept my clients exactly where they are without any judgment. If you were my client and were at a place where you needed to vent, I would be completely there for you as a listening ear. If you were in need of making a decision or resolving a problem, I would help you to generate ideas and potential courses of action that you could choose from. If you were feeling stuck and uncertain as to which direction to take to feel better, I would provide you direction on where to go.
I am a very good listener and have great empathy for my clients, but I would have to say that I am primarily a directive counselor that gives a lot of direction and feedback to my clients, especially when they request for it. I create a very safe and comfortable environment for my clients by providing a comfortable physical space of my office, while also providing my typical personal approach of using humor and my down to earth, calming personality.
