Before becoming a psychiatric nurse practitioner, I was a psychiatric registered nurse. I worked for several years in an inpatient psychiatric unit, helping people who might be the most underserved members of our society. I learned what genuine compassion, caring, and commitment mean. I worked with people of various backgrounds, social statuses, education levels, and religious beliefs. I learn to respect every single one of them.
I am a full-time psychiatric nurse practitioner at the Syracuse VA clinic. I like working with veterans, so I understand trauma quite well. Also, many of my patients live with ADHD, which is practically my second specialty. I like to use humor in my interactions with my patients, which is respectful and supportive.
I graduated as an NP as valedictorian from a class of 25 students, so I know a thing or two about psychopharmacology.
If you choose me as your provider, I promise to do my best to help you. I educate my clients about medications, expected benefits, and potential side effects they can experience. I will be direct and honest with my diagnoses or recommendations.
