Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Dr. Walkens Hassani Petit-Frere, LCSW, DSW.

I specialize in helping individuals, teens, and couples navigate life transitions, anxiety, depression, burnout, relationship challenges, and complex trauma. My therapeutic approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in deep listening. I integrate evidence-based practices such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), EMDR, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and CBT with a relational and culturally attuned lens.

In therapy, I aim to create a space where you feel seen and supported, where healing, curiosity, and growth can unfold naturally. Whether you're managing daily stress or working through deeper emotional wounds, we'll work together to explore your story and move toward meaningful change.

I also support clients navigating professional burnout, creative blocks, or identity exploration, including those in caregiving, academic, and leadership roles.

If you’re seeking a thoughtful, engaging space for personal insight and transformation, I’d be honored to walk alongside you.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is integrative, relational, and client-centered. I draw from evidence-based practices—such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), EMDR, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and CBT, while staying grounded in a culturally responsive and trauma-informed framework. I believe healing happens within relationships, and I work collaboratively with clients to foster curiosity, self-awareness, and resilience.

Each session is tailored to your unique needs, whether you're navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, identity exploration, or life transitions. I pay close attention to the mind–body connection, and I help clients develop practical tools while also exploring deeper emotional patterns.

Therapy with me is not one-size-fits-all, it's a co-created space where you can feel safe to reflect, grow, and reconnect with your inner strengths.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, we'll take time to get to know each other and begin building a foundation of trust. I’ll ask questions to better understand your background, current concerns, and what’s bringing you to therapy. We’ll explore your goals, strengths, and any challenges you’re facing—at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

You don’t need to prepare or have everything figured out. This session is about creating a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can begin to feel seen and supported. From there, we’ll begin to shape a personalized path forward, together.
