I am a Psychology Professor, Ordained Minister, Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor in MS and LA, having been a therapist for 30 years. I am also a wife and mother of 3 adult daughters.
My approach to therapy is cognitive behavioral with the infusion of Emotion-process therapy. I enjoy working with individuals, couples and families. I also incorporate faith and spirituality for those who desire this as well, to help clients apply their faith to help them improve outcomes and change dysfunctional patterns and behaviors.
In the first session, I tend to take a little more time to understand what brought the client, couple or family to therapy at this time, get most background information that relates to how the client has learned to cope and process life issues, and to begin thinking about what they want to change and work on in therapy.
