Great to meet you!

Hello! I am Dr. Wendy Bailey, a licensed clinical psychologist practicing in Georgia and South Dakota. I have collaborated with individuals, couples, families, and groups for 24 years. I have worked in diverse settings, including a counseling center, an independent private practice, an inner city Georgia hospital, and a rural South Dakota hospital. In addition to direct psychotherapy, my history includes guest speaking at various public events promoting evidence-based enhancements to mental health, selling mental health aids, and teaching at private liberal arts colleges and a medical school. The common factor across settings Is my pleasure serving clients and students from diverse backgrounds. i may be a good match for you if you are seeking relief from anxiety, depression, or acute stress reactivity in response to unexpected as well as expected changes to life circumstances.

My approach to therapy

I appreciate the efficacy of structured interventions involving consideration of one’s own thought and behavioral patterns, especially when stressed. I carefully listen to my clients’ specific therapeutic goals. I gently and respectfully offer feedback and explore the positive and negative impact of your words and behavior on others. Overall, therapy sessions are rewarding, especially when the short and simple therapeutic homework assignments designed to improve communication and problem-solving skills are completed. Sessions with me are structured and positive, As a wife for over three decades and a mother of five, I understand the delicate balance of providing feedback when needed for personal growth as well as cheering for you as you make winning therapeutic strides during the course of our time together. If what I offer resonates with you, then I look forward to hearing from you!

What you can expect from me

Our first session is an introduction to how we will engage in treatment. Covered topics include routine treatment expectations, your expectations regarding treatment goals/ outcomes, and discussion of confidentiality and how unique circumstances that challenge confidentiality will be managed (e.g., when emergency 3rd party agencies must be contacted for safety).
