Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Whitney George, a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. I earned my Master of Social Work from the University of Alabama in 2017 and have been working in the mental health field ever since. For the past six years, I’ve provided individual therapy to clients of all ages. My primary specialty is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), though I also draw from a variety of other evidence-based approaches to tailor treatment to each person’s unique needs.

My approach to therapy

I believe therapy works best when it’s a collaborative process—where you and I work together as a team to identify your goals and find practical, meaningful steps to reach them. My style is supportive, compassionate, and down-to-earth (with a little humor added in!), but also focused on helping you gain insight and develop tools you can use in everyday life.

I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which focuses on understanding the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Together, we’ll work on identifying unhelpful patterns and replacing them with healthier ways of thinking and responding. Depending on your needs, I may also use other evidence-based approaches, such as mindfulness techniques, solution-focused strategies, and strengths-based interventions.

I tailor each session to fit your unique personality, challenges, and strengths—because no two people’s stories are the same. My goal is to create a safe and nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, respected, and empowered to make the changes that matter most to you.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, we’ll spend time getting to know each other, discussing what brought you to therapy, and identifying your goals. I’ll also share how I work so you know what to expect. In ongoing sessions, we’ll explore your challenges, build on your strengths, and develop practical skills you can apply between sessions. You can expect a mix of open conversation, guided reflection, and actionable strategies—always paced in a way that feels comfortable for you.
