Great to meet you!

Hello! My name is Will Abshier, LPC (they). I specialize in LGBTQ+ mental health, concerns of gender & sexuality, quality of life concerns, and trauma. My specialty and training comes from 7 years of experience serving the LGBTQ+ community. It's my strong belief that effective therapy needs to be accessible, individualized, mindfulness-based and solution-focused. I work creatively with each of my clients to provide them a truly meaningful experience in therapy. Reach out to set up a free consultation to see if we'd be a good fit!

My approach to therapy

In treatment I support clients to identify their authentic values and with those discover meaningful paths to a greater quality of life. I enjoy helping folks learn what it means to balance effort and ease. Sessions with me include a flexible structure that allows for measurable progress and room for exploration. My therapeutic approach is solution-focused, evidenced-based, and grounded in mindfulness. I practice Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Behavioral Therapies (CBT & DBT).

What you can expect from me

It's important to me that goals in treatment are set by your own values. Sometimes that can be daunting, maybe you don't even know what those are, and that's okay! I'm here to guide you toward self-discovery and provide helpful practices for doing just that. We'll structure sessions to prioritize what's showing up as important in your life and the plan of treatment we create collaboratively. You will likely find me "benevolently demanding" as I use kindness and self-compassion to keep you on track!
