Great to meet you!

I'm licensed in four states with 38 years of experience in diverse roles, having met with thousands of people who had questions, needed a witness, or at a difficult point in a situation or their life.

I start with an orientation, combined with an ongoing assessment process, then offering education, support, and interventions, while maintaining rapport.

I utilize the models and concepts of Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Mindfulness as an initial foundation for structure, learning, and discussion.

A bit about my approach to therapy

My theoretical approach emphasizes the eclectic and humanistic models of therapy, with flexibility to adapt to each client's needs and preferences. I listen for strengths, stressors, resources, supports, and needs related to a client's goals. I believe effective treatment is preceded by a comprehensive assessment, which considers various aspects of a person's experience and capacities. The therapeutic relationship is a collaboration on goals as determined by the client's needs or circumstances.

What you can expect from our first session

People often know the "what" that may need to be addressed. Clients seek assistance with learning the "how" of an issue, with a conscious "why" to provide focus & motivation. I refer to more effective coping skills & healthier self-care behaviors as a universal pathway to change and development. I want client's to experience "I didn't know that", "that was validating", or "I want to learn more about this" after each session. I provide a summary of my experience and specializations upon request.
