Great to meet you!

I’m Wilza Descardes, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master’s degree from Columbia University School of Social Work and over a decade of experience supporting women through life’s many transitions. I specialize in helping woman navigate compassion fatigue, burnout, work-life balance, and attachment-related challenges while fostering self-esteem, resilience, and a deeper sense of purpose.

I am a compassionate therapist who creates a safe, supportive space where you can reconnect with your strengths, build healthier relationships, and take confident steps toward where you want to be. My work is rooted in compassion-focused, attachment-based, and trauma-informed care. What makes me unique is the blend of my professional expertise and personal relatability. I understand firsthand the complexities of balancing career, relationships, caregiving, and self-care.

My approach to therapy

My approach is warm, collaborative, and empowering. I see therapy as a partnership where you set the pace, and together we explore what balance and fulfillment could look like for you. I integrate evidence-based approaches such as compassion-focused, attachment-based, and trauma-informed care, tailoring them to your unique needs and story.

Clients often describe my style as empathetic, nonjudgmental, and grounding. I help women, especially caregivers and professionals, overcome cycles of burnout, self-doubt, or perfectionism by fostering self-compassion, clarifying boundaries, and identifying practical tools that align with their values.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is about you, your story, your goals, and what feels most important to share right now. I’ll take time to understand what brought you to therapy, while also explaining my role and how we can work together. There’s no one-size-fits-all approach, this is a collaborative conversation where you can move at your own pace.

By the end of our first meeting, you’ll have had the chance to feel heard and supported, and we’ll begin mapping out areas you’d like to explore in therapy. My hope is that you’ll leave feeling understood, grounded, and with a sense of clarity about the next steps on your journey.
