Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Mr. Miller, and I am excited to work with you!

With 25 years of counseling experience across diverse populations, I specialize in treating substance abuse, co-occurring mental health issues, and resolving the core conflicts beneath them. I earned my master’s in clinical psychology from The Arizona School of Professional Psychology in November of 2000, following my undergraduate degree at Grand Canyon University, where I became a lifetime member of Psi Chi, the National Honor Society in Psychology.

I firmly believe that within each of us lies the power to take charge of our own lives and play an active role in shaping a brighter, stronger future. My mission is to provide you with the tools, support, and momentum to unlock that potential and create lasting, positive change!

My approach to therapy

I have been trained in many different modalities of therapy. I have completed Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) Substance Abuse training with the Ellis Institute. I also attended workshops from the Linehan Institute for Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). In addition, I have completed training in Seven Challenges Substance Abuse program and Motivational Interviewing. Lastly, I have also completed full training in Eye Movement Desensitizing Reprocessing (EMDR) with an EMDRIA approved provider. My overall approach to therapy is a client-centered focusing on you and your journey. My goal is to offer a collaborative and integrative therapeutic experience tailored specifically to support your healing and personal growth.

What you can expect from me

Starting therapy is a significant decision, and clarity about what to expect can help make the transition seamless and reassuring. First and foremost, I want to invite you to set your mind at ease as you begin this therapeutic journey. Taking the step to seek counseling can sometimes feel intimidating or overwhelming, but please know that you are stepping into a safe, respectful, and welcoming space.

I view therapy through a human lens. Above all else, I am a human being just like you. Throughout my life, I have experienced my own share of mistakes, trials, and disappointments. I understand firsthand that life is rarely a straight line - it is filled with unexpected detours, emotional burdens, and moments of uncertainty. Because I carry this genuine perspective, I strive to cultivate an atmosphere that is completely non-judgmental, compassionate, and understanding. You will never have to worry about putting on a facade or meeting arbitrary expectations in our work together. Here, you are free to bring your full, authentic self.

Following our initial intake, our work together shifts into an ongoing, active partnership. We will systematically address the challenges you face while building upon your inherent strengths. I am committed to supporting you at every step - empowering you with tools, insights, and continuous encouragement so that you can achieve lasting personal fulfillment and realize the goals you have set for yourself.
