Great to meet you!

Hi, my name is Xiaolu, and I’m an English/Mandarin speaking Licensed Mental Health Counselor with 5+ years of experience supporting children, adolescents, and families. I specialize in helping clients navigate anxiety, depression, stress, family and relationship challenges, identity concerns, school-related difficulties, and life transitions.

I am especially mindful of the ways culture, family, identity, and life experiences can shape emotional well-being. My goal is to create a welcoming and supportive space where clients feel understood, gain greater insight into themselves, develop practical coping skills, and move toward meaningful and lasting change.

My approach to therapy

I support clients navigating anxiety, depression, stress, family and relationship challenges, identity concerns, school-related difficulties, and life transitions. My style is warm, collaborative, and individualized. I draw from evidence-based approaches including CBT, DBT, ACT, person-centered therapy, solution-focused therapy, motivational interviewing, and play therapy.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, my goal is to create a warm, welcoming space where you can feel comfortable sharing at your own pace. We’ll spend time getting to know what brings you to therapy, what has been feeling difficult, and what you hope to gain from our work together.

We’ll also begin identifying your strengths, needs, and goals for therapy. I may ask questions about your current concerns, relationships, family, school or work, and other important parts of your life so we can develop a clearer understanding of how best to support you.

You do not need to have everything figured out before coming in. My hope is that you leave the first session feeling heard, understood, and with a clearer sense of what we can work on together.
