Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Xiuying, an LCSW with over nine years of clinical experience. I earned my master’s degree from Columbia University.

As an immigrant who has lived in the U.S. for more than ten years, I also bring personal understanding of immigration, cultural adjustment, identity, belonging, and navigating life between different cultures.

My areas of focus include depression, anxiety, relationship conflicts, immigration and acculturation concerns, attachment issues, anger management, substance use disorders, bipolar disorder, and other mood disorders.

My approach to therapy

My approach is warm, empathetic, reflective, and grounded in psychodynamic therapy. I believe therapy works best when you feel safe, understood, and able to be fully yourself.

My clinical work draws from CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, mindfulness-based practices, psychodynamic therapy, and harm reduction. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach, I integrate these methods based on your individual needs, goals, and where you are in your journey.

What you can expect from me

The first session is primarily about helping you feel comfortable and giving us a chance to get to know each other. I want to learn more about what brings you to therapy, what has been difficult lately, and what you hope to gain from our work together.

You do not need to have everything figured out or know exactly where to begin. We can take things at your pace. I will listen, ask questions, and help you begin making sense of your experiences, emotions, and patterns.

Therapy is a collaborative process—you remain in the driver’s seat, while I walk alongside you with support, reflection, and curiosity. As Aristotle said, “Knowing yourself is the beginning of all wisdom.” Together, we can create space for greater self-understanding and meaningful change.

Seeking help is not always easy, and showing up is already an important first step. I look forward to getting to know you and embarking on this journey together.
