Great to meet you!

I’m Yailene, a Hispanic Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) fluent in both Spanish and English. I’m passionate about supporting individuals, couples, and families as they navigate life’s most difficult moments. I specialize in working with adolescents, young adults, families, and couples, and I strive to create a safe, affirming space where my clients can heal and grow.

My journey into the mental health field was inspired by my own personal experiences. Coming from a blended and multicultural family, I’ve seen how our environments and relationships shape who we are. This background has given me a deep appreciation for the complexity of family dynamics and a heartfelt passion for helping those navigating any life transitions.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and tailored to each individual or relationship I work with. I believe that healing happens in a space where clients feel genuinely seen, heard, and accepted. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental environment where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and patterns without fear.

I draw from a variety of evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – to help clients recognize and shift unhelpful thinking patterns
  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) – to support emotional regulation and distress tolerance
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) – to help individuals align their actions with their values and learn to sit with discomfort
  • Mindfulness-Based Practices – to increase present-moment awareness and reduce anxiety
  • Gottman Method Couples Therapy (Levels 1 & 2 trained) – for couples seeking to improve communication, repair trust, or strengthen connection
  • Family and Systems Work – especially helpful for clients navigating divorce, blended families, or intergenerational conflict

I also integrate cultural sensitivity and my own lived experience as a member of a multicultural, blended family. This allows me to connect deeply with clients navigating identity, belonging, and the impact of family dynamics.

Overall, my goal is to empower you with tools, insight, and support so you can create meaningful change in your life and relationships.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect to leave sessions feeling supported, understood, and empowered. My goal is to help you build greater self-awareness, develop healthier ways of thinking and relating, and gain practical tools you can use in everyday life.

Together, we’ll work to:

  • Understand the root of emotional or relational challenges
  • Explore patterns of behavior and thought that may be holding you back
  • Strengthen communication skills and emotional regulation
  • Build resilience in the face of life transitions or trauma
  • Deepen your connection with yourself and with others

You’ll also gain coping strategies tailored to your unique needs — whether you're managing anxiety, healing from relationship pain, navigating family conflict, or working through a major life change.

Ultimately, therapy with me is a collaborative process. I’ll meet you where you are, walk alongside you at your pace, and help you move toward meaningful growth and healing.
