Yelena Shik

Born and raised in Ukraine, I immigrated to the US right after my graduation from a music college. After settling in New York, I got my Masters Degree and license as LCSW after several years of working in a mental health field. Letter "R" was added to my title after seven years of supervised clinical experience. In 2006 I was certified as a Sport Nutritionist. Took many other specialty trainings - marriage and divorce mediation, OCD, Depression and Anxiety treatment.

I'm supportive and goal-oriented. Each client is unique and requires an individual approach. I am experienced to work with clients of different background and culture. I use different techniques, such as cognitive/behavioral therapy or meditation to find what works best for the client.

I've worked with children and adults with symptoms of anxiety, depression, unresolved trauma or another emotional/behavioral problem. Families in distress; adolescents who would like to see a therapist regarding their difficulties; individuals with emotional, social-relational, adjustments, and couples working on improvements in their relationship or deciding on breaking up. Therapy is focused and goal oriented. Both - me and a client are responsible for working together to achieve results.
