Great to meet you!

My name is Yer and I have worked in the field of mental health and wellness for 15 years. I have provided therapy services to children and adults of all ages and backgrounds. It is a privilege for me to help individuals work through varying challenges and to help them identify and meet their therapy goals. Insuring clients feel heard, empowered and included in their care are a priority for me. I have training in various areas, including but not limited to treating depression, varying kinds of anxiety, life changes, postpartum depression and anxiety, stress management, relationships and grief and end of life challenges. I strive to create a comfortable environment for talk therapy where clients meet therapy goals and improve their quality of lives.

My approach to therapy

I prioritize creating a safe and comfortable environment for my clients in talk therapy. A thorough assessment at the beginning and throughout sessions is important to better understand clients and their struggles. I understand that meeting with a new professional and discussing private thoughts, feelings and experiences can be very difficult to do and so I do my best to be cultural sensitive, affirming. I use various modalities of therapy such as CBT, DBT, solution focused therapy, ERP, strengths based approach etc. Each client I meet with has an individual plan that is catered to who they are and what they need.

What you can expect from me

In the first session, I will openly discuss challenges clients are facing that brought them into therapy. I will ask various questions to better understand a client's background, experiences, symptoms and goals for therapy. I will also provide psychoeducation as needed. In addition, I like to send a brief assessment questionnaire before or after the first session to better understand client symptoms and frequencies in which they occur.
