Great to meet you!

  • Hello, I'm Yolanda. I hold a BA in Psychology from North Texas State University, where I graduated Cum Laude, and an M.Ed. in Educational Psychology with a focus on Counseling & Guidance from the University of Texas at Austin. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I have extensive experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and with a variety of concerns.
  • My specialties include anxiety, depression, trauma and abuse-including Domestic Violence/coercive relationships and PTSD, gender identity affirmation-living your life as your authentic self, LGBTIA+ support, grief and bereavement, life transitions, career development, multicultural and diversity issues, intimate and romantic relationships, spirituality, stress, family relationships and Life Skills-learning and consistently practicing effective skills and strategies.
  • If you're ready to take the first step towards a more fulfilling life, I invite you to reach out. Let's work together to create positive change and achieve your goals.

My approach to therapy

I believe that therapy is a collaborative journey where we work together to navigate life's challenges and uncover your inner strengths. My approach is rooted in empathy, understanding and a genuine commitment to helping you achieve your goals. I strive to create a safe and supportive environment where you can feel heard and validated.

I offer Video Telehealth sessions.

In our sessions, you can expect a compassionate and non-judgmental space where we can explore your thoughts and feelings, identify your goals for personal growth and begin to achieve them.

What you can expect from me

During your first session with me, I will focus on getting to know you; your back story, what events/experiences/issues and problems are bringing you into psychotherapy and what your goals are for personal growth and learning. I lead with first seeking to understand.

I will also answer any questions you may have about myself as a psychotherapist; my educational background, my history of practice as a psychotherapist, my style as a psychotherapist and how I can help you to address the issues/problems that are bringing you into psychotherapy at this time.
