Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Yulan Menzie-Hackney, a Licensed Professional Counselor with a passion for helping individuals navigate life's challenges, heal from past experiences, and discover their inner resilience. I hold a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and have spent over five years working alongside individuals facing substance use, trauma, family conflict and mental health struggles.

My approach to therapy

I believe that therapy is a journey - a space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings without judgment. My approach is collaborative and client-centered, rooted in evidence-based practices like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I strive to create a safe, supportive environment where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to create meaningful change.

I understand that seeking support is not always easy, but I am here to walk alongside you, offering guidance, compassion and practical tools to help you reach your goals. Whether you're managing substance use recovery, coping with anxiety or depression or working through relational and family dynamics, I'm committed to supporting you every step of the way.

What you can expect from me

When you work with me, my goal is for you to leave each session feeling heard, understood and equipped with practical tools to navigate life's challenges. In addition you will also gain greater self-awareness and insight, practical coping skills, supportive and safe space to heal, personalized treatment plans, empowerment and resilience building and connection to resources and community support.
