Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Yulissa! I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor who works with children, adolescents, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, ADHD, stress, grief, relationship challenges, and difficult life transitions. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, struggling with your emotions, experiencing a loss, or simply feeling stuck, my goal is to provide a space where you feel comfortable being yourself and talking openly about what you're going through.

I earned my master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Sam Houston State University and have experience in community-based mental health settings. I believe everyone deserves to feel heard, understood, and supported, regardless of their background or experiences. My style is warm, open-minded, and down-to-earth, and I offer therapy in both English and Spanish. Together, we'll build on your strengths, explore what's been challenging, and work toward meaningful change.

My approach to therapy

My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and tailored to your individual needs. I believe therapy works best when you feel safe being yourself, heard without judgment, and actively involved in the process. I'll take the time to understand your experiences, values, and goals so we can focus on what matters most to you.

I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and attachment-based therapy to help you better understand your thoughts and emotions, recognize patterns that may no longer be serving you, and develop healthier ways of coping. Depending on your needs, our work may focus on managing anxiety or depression, navigating relationships and life changes, processing difficult experiences, or building confidence and emotional resilience.

My goal is to provide a space where you can learn to better understand yourself, recognize your needs, and approach yourself with greater compassion. Together, we'll work toward meaningful changes that help you feel more confident in yourself and better equipped to navigate everyday life.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and better understand what brings you to therapy. We'll talk about what you've been experiencing, what's most important to you right now, and what you'd like to gain from our work together. You don't need to have everything figured out or know exactly where to begin.

You can expect me to be warm, genuine, and engaged throughout the process. I'll listen without judgment, ask thoughtful questions, and work alongside you to identify goals that feel realistic and meaningful. I want therapy to feel like a safe, welcoming space where you can explore challenges, recognize your strengths, and develop practical tools to move forward with greater confidence and clarity.
