Great to meet you!

My path into mental health has included work in substance use treatment, community crisis intervention, and forensic mental health settings, experiences that shaped my understanding of the complexity of human behavior and change. I believe therapy works best as a collaborative process, and I strive to create an environment where clients feel heard, supported, appropriately challenged, and empowered throughout treatment. I value authenticity, curiosity, and humor when appropriate, and I recognize that meaningful change often begins with feeling genuinely understood.

My approach to therapy

My approach is eclectic, individualized, and evidence-based. Rather than utilizing a one-size-fits-all model, I draw from a variety of therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), systems-oriented perspectives, and solution-focused interventions to best meet each client's unique needs and goals. Within couples work, I often incorporate psychodynamic and psychoanalytic perspectives to better understand relationship dynamics and attachment patterns.

What you can expect from me

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin developing a shared understanding of what brings you to therapy. We'll discuss your current concerns, relevant history, goals for treatment, and what you hope to gain from the therapeutic process. I also encourage clients to ask questions and get a sense of whether we feel like a good fit for working together. My goal is for clients to leave the first session feeling heard, understood, and with a clearer sense of direction moving forward.
