Great to meet you!

I am a board-certified psychiatrist practicing in Michigan and the founder of Premier Psych, PLC, a telepsychiatry practice serving patients across the state. I previously served as the Medical Director for Crisis Services at Genesee Health System in Flint, where I worked closely with individuals experiencing acute mental health crises.

I earned my medical degree from Western University of Health Sciences and completed my psychiatry residency at Detroit Wayne County Health Authority. My clinical experience spans several areas of psychiatry, including emergency psychiatry, correctional psychiatry, refugee medicine, and interventional psychiatry.

In my practice, I treat a wide range of conditions including depression, anxiety, ADHD, OCD, PTSD, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. I work with patients to develop thoughtful, evidence-based treatment plans that support long-term mental health and stability.

In addition to my private practice, I collaborate with other healthcare organizations to provide psychiatric consultations, evaluations, and assessments.

My family immigrated to the United States from Afghanistan in the 1970s, and I was born and raised in Anaheim, California. One of the most meaningful experiences of my career was providing psychiatric care to Afghan minors who arrived in the United States without guardians following the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021. Experiences like this have deepened my commitment to compassionate, culturally sensitive care for individuals from all backgrounds.

My approach to therapy

I have a strong passion for crisis psychiatry and supporting people during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. Working in emergency and crisis settings has taught me the importance of creating a calm, safe environment where patients feel heard and supported.

In our work together, I focus on building a comfortable space where you can openly share your experiences, challenges, and strengths.

I believe every person’s story is unique, and understanding both your struggles and your accomplishments helps guide a treatment approach that is thoughtful, personalized, and effective.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, you can expect a supportive and unhurried space where you have time to gather your thoughts and share what has been affecting your mental health. We will talk about the challenges or obstacles you may be experiencing and explore how they are impacting your well-being.

Together, we will discuss treatment options that may include both medication and non-medication approaches. This may involve looking at lifestyle factors, past experiences, current stressors, and personal strengths so we can create a treatment plan that supports your goals and overall wellness.
