Great to meet you!

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor experienced in working with individuals who struggle with anxiety, depression, trauma, family/relational issues, and recovery from substance abuse. As an Indo-Caribbean American woman, I am positioned to offer support to folks who exist in the in-betweens of cultures and lineages; I embrace working with folks who want to explore their racial/cultural/ethnic identities, generational trauma, and experiences of marginalization or social injustice.

My approach to therapy

I prioritize acknowledging the very real impact of systemic oppression on my clients' lives while encouraging a willingness to uncover the ways in which they can reclaim their agency in various circumstances. I encourage folks to come into sessions with a willingness to explore, so that together we can make sense of their experience and identify places where change is possible. I draw from psychodynamic, experiential, existential, feminist, and dialectical-behavioral theories to inform my work.

What you can expect from me

The first session will be a full intake, in which I get to know your background and reasons for seeking therapy. During the intake session, we will establish initial goals for therapy together, which will help guide us throughout your therapeutic journey. Subsequent sessions will consist of the challenging yet rewarding work of therapy, where we will utilize both skills-based and experiential techniques to further your insight, awareness, and capacity for action in your life.
