My approach to therapy

Zelda Verrett brings a client-centered, integrative approach to therapy that emphasizes trust, collaboration, and emotional safety. She believes that healing begins within a supportive therapeutic relationship and that each person has the innate capacity for growth and resilience.

Zelda draws from evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Informed Care, Mindfulness-Based techniques, and Psychodynamic Therapy, tailoring her methods to meet the specific needs of each individual, couple, or family. Her approach is compassionate and grounded, with a deep respect for her clients' unique life experiences and identities.

Zelda is especially attuned to the importance of cultural sensitivity and the impact of systemic and intergenerational influences on mental health. Whether working with individuals, couples, or families, her aim is to provide a safe and affirming space for healing, growth, and empowerment.

What you can expect from me

Your first session with Zelda Verrett is designed to create a comfortable, supportive space where you can begin your therapeutic journey. This initial meeting typically lasts about 60 minutes and focuses on building a strong foundation for the work ahead. Zelda will start by reviewing key confidentiality and consent information and answering any questions you may have about the therapy process. She will then invite you to share what brings you to therapy and explore your goals, challenges, and personal history. This helps her gain a deeper understanding of your experiences and determine how best to support you. By the end of the first session, you and Zelda will discuss a plan for moving forward, which may include setting initial therapy goals and establishing the frequency of sessions.
