Great to meet you!

Hi! I'm Zetta (it rhymes with Jetta).

I've been a licensed clinical psychologist in Virginia since 2012 and have worked as a counselor for more than 20 years. Human beings are wonderfully complicated, and I still find this work meaningful after more than two decades.

Clients often tell me they appreciate my humor, real-world analogies, and my ability to be fully present with them. My goal isn't to impress you with psychological jargon. It's to understand your experience, help you make sense of it, and work with you to create meaningful change.

I'm also a psychologist who has sat in the client's chair. I believe therapy isn't only for moments of crisis. Sometimes we all need another human to help us carry something that has become too heavy to hold alone.

My approach to therapy

Author bell hooks wrote, "Rarely, if ever, are any of us healed in isolation. Healing is an act of communion." That quote captures the way I think about my approach to therapy.

My work is grounded in an interpersonal approach, which means I believe the therapeutic relationship itself becomes a safe place to practice new ways of understanding ourselves and relating to others.

Therapy doesn't always mean revisiting every painful chapter of your life. Sometimes it means learning practical coping skills. Sometimes it means recognizing old patterns that no longer serve you. Sometimes it's discovering a new way to tell your own story.

I bring my authentic (ahem... imperfect) self into the room, and I invite my clients to do the same. I've found that healing often happens in the space between two people who are willing to be honest, curious, and compassionate together. I'm endlessly fascinated by people and deeply honored when they trust me with their stories.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is about getting to know one another.

I'll explain the practical parts of therapy, like confidentiality, scheduling, and what to expect from our work together. Then I'll spend most of our time listening to your story. Some people like gentle questions to help organize their thoughts, while others simply need space to talk. We can do either.

Before we finish, we'll begin developing a treatment plan together. I bring years of training and clinical experience, but you are the expert on your own life. When we combine those forms of expertise, we can build a plan that feels both practical and personal.

I believe people make sense in context, and I'm incessantly curious about how our stories, relationships, strengths, and struggles fit together.
