Great to meet you!

I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with extensive experience in healthcare, psychiatric assessment, medication management, and mental health education. I am passionate about helping individuals better understand their mental health, navigate life's challenges, and achieve meaningful improvements in their emotional well-being and quality of life.

My clinical experience includes treating depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, PTSD, trauma-related conditions, psychotic disorders, substance use disorders, and other complex mental health concerns. My background in acute psychiatric crisis care has strengthened my expertise in comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, diagnostic assessment, and individualized medication management.

I earned my bachelor's and master's degrees in nursing from the University of Nevada, Reno; a PhD from the University of Arizona; and advanced graduate certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. I have also served in nursing education and academic leadership, including teaching future psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners.

I provide evidence-based, culturally responsive, and inclusive psychiatric care that respects each individual's unique background, experiences, and goals. I offer services in both English and Mandarin Chinese and welcome clients from diverse backgrounds, including LGBTQ+ and neurodivergent individuals.

My approach to therapy

I believe mental health care should be compassionate, collaborative, individualized, and grounded in mutual respect. My approach combines evidence-based psychiatric treatment with a holistic, trauma-informed perspective that recognizes the connection between emotional, physical, psychological, and social well-being.

I take time to listen carefully, understand your concerns, and explore the biological, psychological, environmental, and life experiences that may influence your mental health. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms or diagnoses, I strive to understand you as a whole person and identify treatment strategies that align with your individual needs, values, and goals.

My treatment approach emphasizes comprehensive psychiatric assessment, thoughtful medication management when appropriate, psychoeducation, and practical strategies to support emotional resilience and long-term wellness. I believe in shared decision-making, transparent communication, and empowering clients with the knowledge and confidence to participate actively in their care.

Above all, I strive to create a safe, welcoming, and judgment-free environment where you feel heard, respected, and supported throughout your mental health journey.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other, discuss your concerns, and begin developing a personalized plan for your mental health care. My priority is to create a comfortable, respectful, and supportive environment where you can share your experiences openly and without judgment.

During our initial appointment, I will conduct a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation that includes discussing your current symptoms, mental health history, medical history, medications, sleep patterns, lifestyle, and any personal or environmental factors that may affect your well-being. We will also explore your strengths, challenges, previous treatment experiences, and what you hope to achieve through care.

Together, we will review my clinical impressions, discuss potential treatment options, and develop an individualized plan based on your needs and preferences. If medication is appropriate, I will explain the potential benefits, risks, and alternatives so you can make informed decisions about your treatment. Medication is not automatically prescribed, and recommendations are guided by your clinical needs and personal goals.

You are welcome to ask questions, express concerns, and participate actively in every decision. My goal is for you to leave your first appointment feeling heard, better informed about your mental health, and confident about the next steps in your care.
