Great to meet you!

Hi! My name is Michelle Frederic. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 30 years of experience supporting children ages 2 to 22 and their families—mostly in school settings, where I’ve seen just about everything (yes, even that). :-) I bring extensive knowledge in special education and assessment, and I love helping families make sense of systems that can sometimes feel overwhelming. My style is warm, practical, and down-to-earth, with just the right touch of humor to make hard conversations a little easier. Through my virtual practice, I create a supportive space where kids, teens, and parents can feel understood, empowered, and maybe even breathe a little easier.

My approach to therapy

I work with children, teens, and families in a way that feels supportive, practical, and collaborative. With three decades of experience in school-based settings, I specialize in concerns related to academics, learning differences, disabilities, and special education processes—including Bulletin 1508 and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). I help families understand their rights, make sense of evaluations and assessments, and feel confident walking into school meetings knowing they’re prepared and informed.

My approach blends supportive therapy, behavioral strategies, and parent coaching, all grounded in real-world school experience. Whether we’re addressing attention, anxiety, behavior challenges, or navigating eligibility and services, I focus on empowerment through knowledge—because when families understand the system, they can advocate effectively within it. Above all, I create a warm, respectful space where questions are welcome, collaboration is encouraged, and families feel less alone in the process.

What you can expect from me

I always begin with an introductory session where you can share your story, your concerns, and what you hope to achieve. We’ll figure it out together. I strive to create a warm, welcoming space where you feel comfortable being open and vulnerable, while also feeling secure and supported. From there, we build clear, meaningful goals and work step-by-step—through advocacy, education, supportive therapy, behavioral strategies, and empowerment through knowledge—to ensure you or your child has the best possible opportunity for academic and vocational success—no matter the disability or difficulty.
