I am a Latinx female raised in New York City. I have been in social work for 25+ yrs in which I have worked in many settings such as community based mental health clinics, ambulatory health clinics in hospitals in New York working with cancer patients as well as others grappling with chronic medical conditions. I also worked in outpatient satellite clinics in public schools providing psychotherapy to children and their families and collaborating with DOE staff.
“Being human is not hard because you’re doing it wrong, it’s hard because you’re doing it right” - Glennon Doyle
Being human in today’s world can be overwhelming. Given daily pressures from all of our personal and professional responsibilities and the unstable nature of our lives, it becomes easy to feel consumed with anxiety, worry, anger and frustration, or even numbness. Entering therapy is taking a GIANT first step in what can feel like a vulnerable journey. And I’m happy to wade into the swampland of the soul with you as we co-create a safe and trusting environment. My role is to act as your guide in exploring your past and present with empathy to help you to develop insight, feel entitled to all of your feelings, and establish a more empowered future for yourself.
Our therapeutic relationship will be a collaborative approach. We’ll start by meeting you where you’re at and getting to know your strengths and struggles, and what you want to get out of therapy. My style is warm, supportive, nonjudgmental, and playful, but I will challenge you when the time is right. I’m a drama therapist, but don’t be afraid! I practice traditional talk therapy, while I use my background to inform my thinking and interventions. As our journey progresses, I may present you with an opportunity to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences in new creative ways, but this is always optional!
My experience includes working with substance use disorders, autism spectrum disorder, mental illness, anxiety, depression, trauma, and eating disorders. During our work together, my goal is to help you address self-destructive thoughts and behaviors in order to develop healthier coping tools and strengthen self-esteem, so you can live your best life!
Hi there and welcome!
My priority is supporting clients on their journeys towards personal healing & growth.
In 2010, I received my MSW/LMSW. While doing outpatient clinical work at the NYC non-profit agency JBFCS, I became an LCSW. In 2016, I began to establish my private psychotherapy practice, focusing on young and professional adults presenting with a broad variety of life challenges.
I have been trained in expressive arts therapy and is a certified gestalt therapist. I utilizes the arts according to each person’s abilities to imagine and develop body awareness. My eclectic approach suits people who seek to find themselves in mental health. As a blind Japanese immigrant, I work especially well with differently-abled people and Pan Asians.
I work with artists of all backgrounds regarding struggles around creativity and self expression. I offer an affirming, safe space for people who identify as POC and LGBTQIA+ to explore their identities and deconstruct their own narrative within the larger lens of society. I treat both individuals, and couples, ranging from ages 15-40+.
I have extensive experience working with people of all ages in the creative fields, young adults lost at a crossroad in their life.
I believe prioritizing mental health is key to stability in life. I know there is a better world out there and people need the tools to connect with their upmost insight for mental well being. In this field I am always eager to research and find healing processes to tailor the need of each individual.
I truly enjoy my work as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the founder of Thank Yourself Therapy. Before becoming a therapist, I attended Stuyvesant HS, earned a BFA from RISD, and spent over a decade working in advertising. I later received my MSW from Columbia University and have now been practicing for more than ten years. As a first‐generation, bilingual immigrant who changed careers, I bring both cultural insight and diverse professional experience to my practice.
As a License Clinical Social Worker, I am dedicated to helping adults navigate emotional issues, life challenges, anxiety and more. I bring compassionate client-centered approach, to provide a safe and supportive environment where individuals feel comfortable to share their story and be heard in an effort to help them build resilience and allow them to take the risk to invest in their ability to grow and make changes that lead to a more positive sense of self.
