Great to meet you!

My name is Adwoa Sonjiah Davis. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years experience. I am a graduate of University of Nevada, Las Vegas ( BSW, class of 2004) and Howard University (MSW, class of 2009). I have worked with individuals, children and families in many capacities, with a focus on depression, anxiety, alternative lifestyles and sex positivity. I welcome all religious/spiritual and non belief systems and family dynamics. I especially enjoy working with college students and recent college graduates navigating the new world of adulting; individuals from African/Caribbean and Hispanic immigrant families trying to navigate balancing both American and traditional family values and cultures; and individuals that identify as queer. I look forward to assisting you on your journey to be the best person you envision yourself to be.

My approach to therapy

I am a straightforward, solution-focused, and client-centered professional dedicated to guiding individuals through their personal growth journeys. My core philosophy revolves around empowering clients to critically examine societal norms and personal expectations, thereby facilitating the discovery of their authentic selves and fostering lasting happiness.

I believe in a holistic approach to healing and self-discovery, recognizing that while the path can be challenging, it doesn't have to be humorless. I incorporate "humorous accountability" into my practice, which means I encourage clients to take ownership of their progress with a lighthearted yet firm approach. This unique methodology helps to demystify the healing process, making it more accessible and, dare I say, enjoyable. My goal is to transform what can often be a daunting experience into a more manageable and even fun journey, providing consistent support and practical tools to navigate obstacles with greater ease.

What you can expect from me

I know the first session can be daunting, so I try to make it fun and engaging. Though we have to get through the standard intake questions, I try to make it seem like you're getting to know a new friend. Be sure to come with questions for me as well!
