My name is Jade Bean. I have been a social worker for 27 years. After working in long term care and foster care, I returned to school to obtain my master's degree in social work from the University of Maryland, Baltimore School of Social Work. I focused my studies on clinical mental health and addictions treatment. After graduating, I worked at the Maryland Center for Veterans Education and Training in Baltimore. Ultimately, I decided to move back to my hometown and began working as a therapist at a local outpatient clinic. I have worked with all age groups throughout my social work career, which I believe assists me as a therapist. I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy interventions in treatment; however, I know this may not be the best fit for everyone. I do modify treatment to fit your needs, as much as possible, while also maintaining the integrity of the treatment modalities. Two years ago I became certified in Parent Child Interaction Therapy, which is a treatment protocol to assist care givers learn techniques to address challenging behaviors of children aged 3-7. I look forward to meeting you and exploring ways I may be helpful to you in achieving your goals.

Kalisha Brown founded Breaking Cycles Counseling with the mission to provide mental health support for individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, and interpersonal or relationship issues. She recognized a significant gap in mental health services for low- to moderate-income individuals, as well as the need to address cultural biases within therapy. Driven by a passion to offer accessible, culturally competent care, Kalisha created a group practice where individuals could receive the mental health support they needed without financial barriers. Breaking Cycles Counseling focuses on empowering clients to break free from harmful patterns, fostering emotional well-being, and improving relationships in a supportive, inclusive environment.

I specialize in helping individuals break free from repetitive and "stuck" thought patterns that may be hindering their personal growth and well-being. Our minds have a tendency to get caught in loops of negative or unhelpful thoughts, which can create distress and limit our ability to thrive. I believe in empowering individuals to challenge and move beyond these patterns, allowing them to embrace new perspectives.
