Great to meet you!

Hello, I’m Amy Fox — welcome. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a Master of Social Work (MSW) from Virginia Commonwealth University. I have professional experience in medical social work and working with children, which has shaped my compassionate, grounded, and client-centered approach to care.

I work with children, adolescents, and adults navigating challenges such as anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, and questions or concerns related to gender identity. I especially support individuals who may feel overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of how to move forward, and who are looking for a safe place to sort through what they’re experiencing without judgment.

My style is warm, supportive, and collaborative. I believe therapy works best when clients feel genuinely seen and understood, and I strive to create a space where you can show up exactly as you are while we work toward meaningful, realistic change together.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, flexible, and grounded in meeting each client where they are. I draw from a range of evidence-based and trauma-informed approaches, including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Attachment Theory, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), depending on what best supports your needs and goals.

Rather than focusing only on techniques, I prioritize building a strong therapeutic relationship where you feel safe, respected, and able to be honest about what is and isn’t working. I welcome feedback throughout our work together and see therapy as something we shape collaboratively over time.

I also incorporate or support clients in exploring adjunctive and experiential approaches when appropriate, including EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Equine-Facilitated Psychotherapy (EFP), play-based approaches, and Reiki. These are always offered based on your comfort level, interest, and clinical fit.

Clients often describe my style as warm, steady, and collaborative. I strive to be supportive while also helping them gently move toward meaningful insight and change.

What you can expect from me

I encourage new clients to begin with a brief introductory call so we can connect and determine whether we feel like a good fit. Finding the right therapeutic relationship is an important first step, and I want you to feel comfortable and supported from the very beginning.

In our first full session, we’ll take time to talk through what brought you to therapy and what feels most important in your life right now. I’ll ask questions to better understand your history, current challenges, and goals, but we’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. There is no pressure to have everything figured out at once.

We’ll work together to begin identifying what you hope will be different as a result of therapy and what support would feel most helpful. My goal is to create a calm, welcoming space where you feel heard and not rushed, and where we can begin shaping a direction for our work together.

By the end of the first session, you can expect a clearer sense of how we might work together and what the next steps could look like, with room to adjust as we go based on your needs.

If you’re thinking about starting therapy, I’d be glad to connect for a brief consultation call and help you take that first step. I look forward to meeting you.
