I embarked on my academic and professional journey with a deep commitment to understanding human behavior and fostering meaningful change. After earning my undergraduate degree from The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), I pursued my passion for mental health by obtaining my master’s degree from Our Lady of the Lake University.
Both personal experiences and a profound appreciation for the transformative power of counseling shaped my path to becoming a therapist. Following the loss of my father, I discovered firsthand the impact that therapy can have in navigating grief, adversity, and self-discovery. This pivotal experience reinforced my dedication to helping others find healing and resilience.
I specialize in trauma, anxiety, depression, and relationship dynamics, utilizing evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), psychoeducation, and Gestalt techniques. My therapeutic approach is both empathetic and direct, fostering an environment where clients feel understood while being encouraged to challenge themselves and grow.
I believe that while adversity shapes us, it does not define us. My goal is to empower individuals to gain insight, develop coping strategies, and move forward with renewed confidence and purpose.

Most individual, regardless of age or background, need help from time to time to meet their goals. Sometimes, that is that is having a coach walk beside them to help them build self-confidence, managing life work stressors, work on relationships. Other times that is having someone to help them move past their trauma and into a place of hope. Counseling provides individuals with those both.
I have worked over twenty years as a licensed professional counselor. During that time, I have worked in private practice, with social service groups, and with non-profits. I am also a certified teacher, grades Pre-K through 12, have worked in a magnet school for gifted students, and have taught GED, and ABE with Texas Department of Criminal Justice. In 2015, I retired from public education as the director of guidance, counseling, and social work and now, I work for you.
I believe individuals should be involved in their counseling decisions and offer a variety of therapeutic options to meet your counseling goals. I am trained in trauma therapy, EMDR, CBT, TF-CBT and offer a number of other therapy options.
