Great to meet you!

Hi! I'm Ahmed, nice to meet you. I have been practicing for over 13 years. I specialize in providing culturally responsive and integrative care for refugees, immigrants, and individuals from diverse backgrounds. I help individuals that are experiencing anxiety, depression and PTSD. I am bilingual in English and Somali. Outside of my professional work, I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, cooking, and volunteering within the community.

I completed my Doctorate in Psychology from the University of St. Thomas - Graduate School of Professional Psychology and my residency at Watercourse Counseling Center and Metro Behavioral Health. I also completed my Master of Social Work with an emphasis in clinical mental health from the University of Minnesota.

My approach to therapy

My clinical practice is grounded in the bio-psychosocial model, with a strong emphasis on understanding how cultural, social, and environmental factors affect mental health and well-being. My professional interests include holistic health, multicultural psychology, psychological assessment and evaluation, and psychotherapy. I provide services to adolescents and adults, utilizing a resilience-oriented, strength-based approach that incorporates cultural, spiritual, and holistic perspectives tailored to each individual’s unique needs and goals.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect a welcoming, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment focused on building comfort and trust. I pay special attention to cultural, spiritual, and individual factors that may influence mental health and coping. No pressure is placed on you to share everything at once, the session helps establish a foundation for collaborative care and a personalized treatment plan. Book with me through my calendar to schedule a session.
