Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Alex! My path into this work began in early childhood development, where I learned just how much our earliest relationships and experiences shape the way we move through the world as adults. That foundation still informs everything I do; I'm endlessly curious about the "why" behind how we feel and behave, and I hold that curiosity with warmth and zero judgment.

Outside of my practice you'll usually find me behind a camera. Photography taught me to slow down and pay attention to small, beautiful details, and to appreciate that the same scene can look completely different depending on where you're standing (a lesson that I find turns out to be pretty useful in therapy as well). I love being out in nature whenever I can and at home I share my space with a cuddly cat who supervises most of my day.

My approach to therapy

I work with people navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, your identity, relationships, and so much more. I approach each person as a whole human being rather than a set of symptoms. My style is collaborative and personal. I see our work as a partnership, and the trust we build together is the garden everything else grows from. Drawing on my background in human development, I pay close attention to how your history and attachments show up in the present, using attachment-based and relational approaches to help those patterns make sense.

From there, we tailor the work to fit you. I draw on evidence-based methods like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Trauma-Focused CBT when structure and skill-building are helpful, and I weave in narrative, humanistic, and art-based approaches when it feels more supportive to explore your story and express what words alone can't always reach. My hope is that therapy feels less like something being done to you and more like something we're building together, at a pace that feels right.

What you can expect from me

First sessions can bring up some nerves, and that's completely okay! There's no "right" way to show up. Mostly, our first meeting is a chance to get to know each other. I'll ask some questions to understand what's bringing you in and what you're hoping for, but there's no pressure to have it all figured out or to share more than you're ready to. You're welcome to bring as much or as little as feels comfortable.

My biggest goal for that first hour is simply that you leave feeling a little more heard, and with a sense of whether this feels like a good fit for you. We'll talk about what matters most to you, start to map out where you'd like to go, and take that first small step together. Wherever you are right now, you don't have to sort through it alone.
