Great to meet you!

Hello, I’m Alexa Adamo Valverde (she/her), a trauma-focused narrative therapist and play therapist. I shifted careers into counseling after 15 years of running community-based nonprofits focused on social justice. Today, I support clients in (teens, women, families, men, and couples) through therapy that honors the body, your story, and the sacred work of claiming your voice and your healing. I bring advanced training in trauma, narrative therapy, play therapy, creative expression, and interpersonal neurobiology, and a lens into how the systems of privilege and oppression impacted our life experiences. In therapy, I weave together narrative therapy, mindfulness, play (for all ages) and somatic tools to help you find clarity, joy, and connect with your inner wisdom. I specialize in working with people healing from trauma, navigating fertility and family-building challenges, walking through menopause and mid-life adventures, or exploring spiritual transformation. While I bring my skills and training to this work, I greatly value "not knowing," as I am not the expert in your life, you are. I look forward to collaborating with you to support your wellbeing.

My approach to therapy

My approach blends trauma-focused, healing-centered narrative therapy, mindfulness, relational neuroscience, and play therapy for all ages—meeting you exactly where you are. I offer spaces where conversation, art making, writing, breathwork, movement, and imagination are welcomed as pathways toward healing and integration. Whether you're untangling complex trauma, reclaiming parts of yourself, or seeking deeper clarity in your life, I invite your whole self into the room (or outside!). This is not one-size-fits-all therapy. It's a spacious, attuned process—grounded in safety, creativity, and trust in your inner wisdom and capacity to heal.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is a space of curiosity and care. I’ll invite you to share what feels meaningful about your story and what you’re longing for—whether that’s relief, clarity, connection, someone to listen, or something you feel but can’t name. Together, we’ll begin to notice what helps you feel steadier and explore the methods that might help you regulate, reflect, and thrive. Therapy that guides you to connect to what feels safe, supportive and possible for you and the future you envision for yourself.
