Great to meet you!

Hello, and welcome! My name is Alexis Barnes-Scott, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with more than 12 years of experience helping individuals, couples, and families navigate life's challenges. I earned my degree from East Carolina University and have dedicated my career to supporting clients as they build healthier relationships and create meaningful, lasting change.

My areas of specialization include relational concerns, trauma, women's issues, and the management of stress and anxiety. I strive to provide a safe, supportive, and collaborative environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered throughout the therapeutic process.

Outside of my professional life, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our beloved 15-year-old dog, Bella, and my 1-year-old dog, Jackson.

I look forward to the opportunity to support you on your journey toward healing, growth, and greater well-being.

My approach to therapy

My therapeutic approach is both affirming and thoughtfully challenging. I believe growth occurs when we feel supported enough to examine new perspectives and develop healthier patterns of thinking and relating. My primary clinical orientation is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), integrated with Systems Theory and Solution-Focused Therapy to provide individualized care that reflects each client's unique strengths, experiences, and goals.

What you can expect from me

At the heart of my work is the belief that you are the expert on your own life. My role is to partner with you by offering guidance, evidence-based tools, and compassionate support as you move toward the life you envision. Whether you prefer to move through therapy gradually or are ready to make changes more quickly, I will meet you where you are and tailor our work to your pace.
