Alison York

Hi! I'm a licensed therapist with 16 years of experience working with couples and individuals. I work with couples challenged with affair recovery and communication issues, and individuals recovering from early childhood attachment/sexual trauma, the impacts of narcissistic abuse and coping with alcoholic/addict partners. I especially enjoy working with couples and women going through life changes including motherhood/divorce/aging parents. Clients on a spiritual journey and searching for meaning in their lives also comprise a large portion of my caseload.

I have certificates in EMDR, Emotionally Focused Therapy (Attachment therapy) and Transactional Analysis. I am available for in-person therapy in Raleigh and via telehealth.

I take a person centered, holistic approach. I understand that our patterns and ways of behaving have served an important purpose in keeping us emotionally safe and I help clients change those patterns that may no longer be helpful. I often use EMDR and Experiential therapy to help unravel these old patterns.

I work with my clients to create a roadmap of where they want to be and how their life would look when they make the changes they want.
