What you can expect from me

What to Expect in Your First Session

Your first session is an opportunity for us to begin building a safe, supportive, and collaborative relationship. My goal is to understand who you are, what brings you to therapy, and what you hope to gain from our work together.

1. A Comprehensive Clinical Assessment

We’ll start by completing a thorough assessment that helps me understand your history, current concerns, strengths, and support systems. This includes exploring emotional, behavioral, family, and environmental factors that may be influencing your wellbeing. This process is conversational—not a test—and it helps ensure that your treatment is tailored specifically to your needs.

2. Listening to Your Story

You’ll have space to share your experiences at your own pace. I listen carefully and without judgment, honoring your voice and your lived experience. You decide what feels comfortable to share, and I follow your lead. This is your time to be heard, understood, and supported.

3. Creating Treatment Goals Together

Once we have a clearer picture of what you’re facing, we’ll work together to identify meaningful, realistic goals for therapy. These goals reflect what you want to change, strengthen, or better understand. Whether you’re seeking healing, coping skills, clarity, or support, we’ll shape a plan that aligns with your priorities.

4. Identifying What Matters Most to You

Your values, preferences, and comfort level guide the entire process. We’ll talk about what feels most important for you in treatment—whether that’s improving relationships, managing emotions, processing trauma, building confidence, or navigating life transitions. Your voice is central in shaping the direction of our work.
