Allison Burt, LCSW, OSW-C earned her Masters of Social Work from the University of New England in 2022, and has been a certified oncology social worker since 2024. Upon graduation, she was employed by The Dempsey Center, a cancer support center, to provide internal and external navigation, 1:1 counseling, support groups, and psychoeducational programs. Allison has experience working with individuals with a cancer diagnosis, caregivers, family members, those who are post-treatment/NED, and through this work, she has gained a deep understanding of the profound impacts of serious illness and loss. A social worker through and through, Allison approaches her work centering empathy, warmth, and humor. After work, she enjoys spending time with her partner, dog and cats, gardening, reading and enjoying Maine.

My approach to therapy

I utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Narrative Therapy, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and emphasize the importance of client autonomy and collaboration.

What you can expect from me

During our first session, we would discuss what brings you to counseling, what you value, and what your goals for counseling are. We would talk through any concerns or questions you have about starting to speak with a counselor, and go over future scheduling, too.
