My Approach to Therapy: Flexible, Collaborative, and Centered on You
My philosophy is rooted in the belief that you are the expert on your own life. My role is to be a supportive guide, helping you uncover your strengths and navigate challenges. I offer a flexible and collaborative approach, meaning our work together is always tailored to your unique needs, experiences, and goals.
I believe in creating a safe, non-judgmental space where you can freely express yourself and explore your thoughts and feelings without fear. This means I prioritize building a strong, trusting relationship with you, where you feel truly seen and heard.
Just as no two people are exactly alike, no two therapeutic journeys are identical. While I draw from a robust toolkit of evidence-based practices, including principles from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and attachment-based approaches, I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all model.
For children, especially our youngest clients (0-6) and their caregivers, my approach is often play-based and highly interactive. We might use art, storytelling, or specific games to help them express big emotions and develop coping skills, while also supporting caregivers in building stronger, more attuned relationships.
With adults, we might focus more on understanding thought patterns and their impact on feelings and behaviors, or gently exploring past experiences and their influence on the present.
When working with families, I facilitate open communication and help members understand each other's perspectives, fostering healthier dynamics.
For those in niche communities like competitive dance or geek culture, I adapt my language and understanding to resonate with your specific interests and the unique pressures or joys within those worlds.
we'll work at your pace and focus on what feels most relevant to you in the moment.
