Great to meet you!

Hi there! I'm Allison, licensed mental health and addictions therapist from the great state of Minnesota. I am a master's level therapist, mom, avid reader, and wife. I am passionate about providing excellent therapy and am incredibly excited to offer both telehealth and in-person therapy from my new office in Red Wing, MN!

My therapy practice is deeply rooted in evidence-based- care, but I know your experiences are anything but textbook! While my training and experiences have equipped me with ample ideas about how to navigate complex mental health concerns, I also know that you are the expert on your own lived experience. Collaboration will be essential for us to identify what success looks like for you.

My approach to therapy

My style is relational and direct, recognizing that therapy often unfolds like many of your other relationships over time. We'll work to unhook from thoughts and interpretations that keep you stuck in unhealthy patterns, using concrete skills from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Sometimes this includes addressing traumatic memories using Prolonged Exposure or other evidence based strategies. My goal is to equip you with the strategies needed to build a life you want to wake up for.

What you can expect from me

Our first session or two will focus on getting to know one another and identifying what brings you to therapy. These sessions will feel different than the rest of our work together.

We will work hard! It’s difficult to cover everything you might want to discuss from the past week or two in just 50-55 minutes. As such, I will come prepared to engage, and I ask that you do too.

I am direct. Oftentimes, I will listen more in our initial sessions. During this time, I will get to know you, how you receive feedback, and your current motivations. Out of respect for you, I will tell you if I think we’re a good fit for one another, how I see your symptoms showing up, and options for addressing your concerns. As our relationship grows, I will often give, and request feedback to ensure you’re getting what you want and need from therapy.
