Great to meet you!

I started my therapy journey in the Rocky Mountains of Utah, where I worked as a behavior specialist with youth and adults on the autism spectrum (including time with the State of Utah) before becoming a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC).

Over the years, I’ve supported clients from age 3 to 80, and I’m a proud LGBTQ+ ally who believes therapy can be both meaningful and a little bit human (yes, laughing is allowed).

My work is grounded in a holistic approach, and I’m trained in TF-CBT and EMDR to help clients move from “stuck” to “steady.”

When I’m not in session, you can usually find me with my four kids, learning something new, or attempting to “relax” with puzzles, board games, and video games (results may vary).

My approach to therapy

  • Holistic + whole-person focus: you consider mental health, substance use, trauma history, supports, and real-life barriers—not just symptoms.
  • Evidence-based and integrative: you draw from CBT, DBT, TF-CBT, EMDR, and Motivational Interviewing (MI) based on the client’s needs and readiness.
  • Client-centered and collaborative: you partner with clients, build on strengths, and support autonomy instead of “doing therapy at” them.
  • Practical and skills-forward: you emphasize coping tools, emotion regulation, grounding, communication, and relapse-prevention strategies clients can actually use day-to-day.
  • Clear, accessible psychoeducation: you explain the “why” behind interventions in plain language to reduce shame and increase buy-in.
  • Progress-oriented: you set measurable goals, track change over time, and adjust the plan when something isn’t working—without blaming the client.
  • Warm, professional tone: you create safety and connection, and you use appropriate humor to make hard work feel more doable.

What you can expect from me

  • A warm, low-pressure start: we’ll slow things down, get oriented, and make sure you feel comfortable before we dive into anything heavy.
  • Clear confidentiality + logistics: I’ll explain privacy, limits of confidentiality, paperwork basics, and how sessions typically work.
  • What brings you in (in your words): you’ll share what’s going on and what you want to be different—no “perfect story” required.
  • Whole-person snapshot: I’ll ask about current stressors, symptoms, sleep, relationships, work/school, supports, coping, and anything medical that might matter.
  • Safety check-in: we’ll briefly assess for safety concerns (like self-harm risk) and create a plan if needed.
  • Initial goals + a path forward: we’ll identify 1–3 priorities and start shaping a treatment plan that fits you (not a one-size-fits-all template).
  • A practical takeaway: you’ll leave with at least one tool, strategy, or next step you can use right away between sessions.
  • Time for your questions: you can ask anything—about therapy, pace, methods (CBT/DBT/TF-CBT/EMDR/MI), or what happens next.
