Great to meet you!

I love working with folks who have lived a life of being misunderstood and feeling "alien" so they can finally experience acceptance and confident authenticity.

My approach to therapy

Promoting self-awareness, emotional insight and personal empowerment, I work from evidence based practical approaches that lead to outcomes people want. I believe you are what you need- it's in there, deep down. It's only that you need to let go of what is NOT you, to really get to know yourself.

I have 30 years experience working with individuals and families, using attachment theory and solutions focused, strategic structural models as a parent and family educator. This work led me to a career shift into mental health counseling where I deepened my knowledge of attachment and family systems which I use in my person-centered therapy style to provide therapy with adult individuals. I am anti-racist and anti-binary, and neurodivergent affirming.

What you can expect from me

Many others offer a 15 minute phone consult. Why don't I? I prefer you schedule an intake session. The first 15 minutes of an intake session is already nearly identical to most 15 minute phone consults, to be honest. I'll ask you after 15 minutes if you want to continue. If you do not, I will change the appointment to a consult, you will not be charged, and I'll offer some referrals to other therapists.

I am interested in earning your trust in the process and in me. We will start with naming the problem, your strengths and your goals. You are the expert in you; I use my education, experience and curiosity to be your guide. Once we've completed the first/intake session, your goals are written into a treatment plan and we will start.

I want you to be comfortable, so my space is casual. If you are telehealth, I'll likely be in my hammock swing chair and whether you are in person or telehealth, my shoes may be off and fidgets at hand. Please come just as you are, wear comfy clothes, take off your shoes, bring a drink, and grab a fidget.

Are you ready to experience acceptance and authenticity? Schedule with me, let's get started.
