My approach to therapy

My theoretical approach is client-centered and collaborative. Our work together will focus on your unique challenges and goals, with you taking the lead to foster greater self-awareness, confidence, and overall emotional well-being. I integrate principles of motivational interviewing, solution-focused strategies, and cognitive-behavioral techniques, while also drawing on real-life examples—and appropriate humor—to create an engaging, practical, and supportive counseling experience.

I work with adults, couples, and older individuals, and I approach this work as more than a profession—it is my life’s calling. Clients often describe me as warm, appropriately challenging, and empowering. If you are seeking deeper self-understanding, relief from emotional pain, or a more grounded way forward, I am here to walk alongside you with empathy, respect, and clinical skill.

Cultural Awareness & Lived Experience: I have extensive training in cultural competency and have worked with clients across the globe, including those in Canada, the UK, Australia, Scotland, Ireland, China, and Germany.

What you can expect from me

In your first session, my goal is to create a comfortable, supportive space where you feel heard and validated. We’ll spend time getting to know one another, discussing what brings you to therapy, and identifying what you hope to gain from our work together. I aim to make the experience approachable and engaging, while also setting a strong foundation for meaningful change—even when sessions feel challenging at times.

You can expect to leave our initial meeting feeling understood, having begun to develop practical tools, and with a renewed sense of hope and direction for the future.
