Great to meet you!

Aloha and welcome!

I’m glad you’re taking steps to make things better. I understand that life can feel overwhelming at times, especially when you’re trying to understand things alone. Depression and anxiety can be very serious. You don’t have to feel bad, I have helped thousands of people just like you.

My approach to therapy

Depending on what your needs are, we can focus on different areas:

  • Narrative / dynamic therapy (which goes by a few names) explores the themes of your life, how they shaped you, and what you want to change.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy addresses specific problems like depression, anxiety, social discomfort, self-confidence and more.
  • Goal attainment: I believe one of the chief benefits of therapy can be to work towards your life goals. There is a lot of science about how best to do that.
  • Positive psychology: This is a school of therapy focused on keeping you healthy and happy long-term. Mindfulness and self-care fall in this area.

All the above are evidenced-based practices, meaning that they are widely researched and found to be highly effective. They are the best approaches I have found in my 30+ years as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC).

What you can expect from me

My goal is to provide a safe space for you to delve into the issues that matter most to you and to support every step of your journey. You'll find that I approach our conversations with empathy, compassion, and deep respect. I’m very professional but enjoy a laid back style. I assume we are both motivated for your growth and want to take practical steps to get there at whatever pace is best for you.

Finally when you work with me you’ll likely meet my cat, Rapscallion.
