Great to meet you!

Hello! I am accepting new clients at this time.

My name is Angelica, and I am a clinical-level social worker. I have been working in the field of social services for the past 12 years.

After completing my MSW, I started as a school-based social worker, and I have been doing this ever since. I love being able to help people and hear their stories. Everyone has a story to tell, and someone should be there to support and listen.

I think of myself as a responsive, strengths-based, and empathetic counselor. I think everyone deserves grace, and often everyone is going through something that no one knows about. I have had the privilege to work with a wide variety of people, including youth, adults, elderly, adolescents, people with disabilities, and many other people in between. From crisis intervention services, to individual, to group-based therapy, and social skills groups. I have dabbled in a bit of everything in the field so far. I like getting to know the person I am working with, and then coming up with a plan together about what can help!

My approach to therapy

My approach is a combination of things. I am most importantly, myself. I think that counselors too often put on a face and are not authentically themselves, but I want my clients to feel like they are talking to someone, not just a therapeutic robot.

I tend to use a strength-based, trauma informed lense when working with clients. The main modalities that I incorporate in my work are mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and dialectical behavior therapy. In addition, I incorporate art, humor and clear communication in my sessions.

What you can expect from me

I think that the first session depends on the person. Sometimes clients want someone who will get to know them and be more personable. Other times, people want to feel like they are talking to someone who is like them with struggles, stress, emotions and what it is like in the complexities of the world.
