Great to meet you!

I specialize in working with eating and body image concerns, along with the emotional and interpersonal issues that often accompany them. I find that behavioral techniques, such as CBT and mindfulness, can be very helpful in addressing negative body thoughts and harmful eating behaviors. However, it is also beneficial to explore the root of these concerns more deeply. For this kind of work, I use a psychodynamic approach to discover how our experiences and memories influence our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. I also have experience working with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, OCD, and trauma. I am a licensed clinical therapist in Maryland. I received my M.A. in Psychology from the City College of New York, where I conducted research on the relationship between disordered eating and depression in women. I then received my Ed.M. and M.A. in Psychological Counseling from Teachers College, Columbia University. I also completed a two-year training program at the Center for the Study of Anorexia and Bulimia in New York City, where I trained in psychodynamic and behavioral techniques for treating eating disorders.

My approach to therapy

I am open to using whatever treatment modality you feel will be most effective for you, but I have specific training in CBT, psychodynamic therapy, and ERP, as well as DBT, mindfulness, and CBT specifically for treating eating disorders.

What you can expect from me

Some folks prefer limited, goal-oriented treatment, while others like to be in therapy long-term to cope with challenges as they come up in their lives. I am open to whatever treatment timeline you feel is best for you and your needs.
