Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Beth! As a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor with over 30 years of experience, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside people as they navigate life’s challenges, build resilience, and grow. Based in South Portland, Maine, I currently meet with clients virtually, with plans to bring back in-person care soon. Outside of my practice, I love gardening, reading, exercising, and traveling. I bring that same natural curiosity and appreciation for life into my work, creating a warm, grounded space where you can feel truly seen, supported, and understood.

My approach to therapy

My approach is guided by four core principles: Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity, and Empathy (PACE). I believe therapy works best as a compassionate, nonjudgmental partnership where you feel safe enough to explore your thoughts and discover new possibilities. Over the years, I’ve integrated a gentle mix of holistic tools into my work—from brain-wise insights and mind-body connections to gentle, trauma-informed techniques like EMDR. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all model, I tailor our work around your unique strengths, helping you make sense of your experiences at a pace that feels right for you.

What you can expect from me

Taking that first step can feel intimidating, so my top priority for our first meeting is to ease your nerves and help you feel completely comfortable. You don’t need to have all the answers or know precisely where to start—we will move at a pace that feels safe and grounded. We’ll use this time to get to know each other, gently talk through what brought you into therapy, and explore what you hope to gain from our time together. Think of it as a low-pressure, supportive conversation to help us build a strong foundation for your journey forward.
